HUB
The Gaia-X Hubs are the thinktank and grass root supporters for the Gaia-X Association. They represent the region with its data spaces. Hub´s adapt the Gaia-X deliverables in their use cases and give feedback to the Association.
The foundation of a Gaia-X Hub is supported by several Gaia-X Association bodies: the Governmental Advisory Board, the respective Committee – mainly the Data Spaces Business Committee (DSBC), and the Management Team. The Association will soon provide a Presentation which explains the benefits of being a HUB.
HUBs are independent organisations, not funded by the Association. The focus on establishing new HUBs is focused, but not limited to EU counties. Gaia-X is open to discuss with all countries interested in supporting the Gaia-X Vision & Strategy.
The Gaia-X Association and the national Gaia-X Hubs cooperate, have regular Meetings and interaction set up to assure collaboration. The Hubs are closely working with the Ecosystem Verticals. The working relationship between Gaia-X and the HUB´s is documented in the Hub Handbook.
Gaia-X is already represented in these counties – as a member you can engage with the HUB in your country. For more information and contact details visit Gaia-X extranet.

Lighthouse Projects
Gaia-X Lighthouses are selected business projects with a significant potential impact on the EU economy and society on a pan-European scale.
They are aligned with the vision and the goals of Gaia-X and adopt the Gaia-X policies, rules, and architecture guidelines.
They provide clear value and a concrete business case scenario , bringing together a critical mass of stakeholders committed to create open, non-proprietary ecosystems for data exchange.
Within the Gaia-X Endorsement Program, there is the possibility to qualify as a lighthouse project.
The minimum requirements are defined in the Lighthouse Criteria Document.
If you want to become a Lighthouse project, please ensure to fulfil the listed Criteria. For an audit and first conversation on” how to qualify” get in contact the DSBS Committee
The Lighthouse projects will present their business case scenario and demo at the 2022 Gaia-X Summit in Paris.
There are already 8 projects that have qualified as Lighthouse Projects. To find out who they are and to learn more about our current Lighthouse Projects, please visit the Gaia-X site here
Ecosystem verticals
Gaia-X Vertical Ecosystems support the creation and development of data spaces and projects. Ecosystem verticals aim to share data space knowledge and collect cross-country use-cases, while giving Gaia-X Association members the opportunity to network, collaborate and identify open standards related to specific domains. The Gaia-X Data Space Business Committee supports the link with and across the Ecosystem verticals and Hubs as well as ensures the development and application of Gaia-X deliverables in specific domains.
For more information about the vertical ecosystems, please the Gaia-X site by clicking here

Verticals are not ruled by the Operational Handbook and act independently from the Association’s Committees.
For more information, please visit the DCP Vertical folders.
Other Initiatives
Gaia-X is engaging with all relevant platforms and initiatives in Europe. Some of the most important ones may be seen below.
Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA)
The Gaia-X European Association for Data and Cloud AISBL, the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), FIWARE Foundation, and the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) joined forces to drive the adoption of data spaces across Europe and beyond. The Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA) is the first initiative of its kind, bringing together the necessary industry players to realise a data-driven future in which organizations and individuals can unlock the full value of their data.
One voice and a common framework to make data spaces happen; bringing together data providers, users and intermediaries, data spaces are key to driving businesses to competitively extract value out of data.
Together, the Alliance’s founding organisations represent 1,000+ leading key industry players, associations, research organisations, innovators, and policy-makers worldwide.
With its combined cross-industry expertise, resources and know-how, the Alliance drives awareness, evangelises technology, shapes standards and enables integration across industries.
